Yes, that's bad. It's also pretty unusual -- Zyprexa is usually very sedating. Are you having vivid dreams or anything like that?

That is how I slept, if I slept, before I started the Zyprexa. I titrated the drug from 2.5mgs to 7.5mgs at night over a period of a couple of weeks. Now, once I fall to sleep (this drug does not put me to sleep)I sleep hard and long. I've only had two occasions where I woke up after 6 hours of good sleep. The rest of my nights, have been at least 8 hours of deep sleep. I feel kind of hung over for about a half an hour upon waking. I guess my point is that I had to take more of the drug than I really wanted before it had any affect on my sleep. 2.5 and 5mgs didn't do anything to help my sleep, although I noticed a reduction in daytime anxiety within a week at the lower doses. Now that I am sleeping well, I am going to try to titrate back down to 5mgs to see what happens. The great thing about this drug for me is the affect it has on my daytime anxiety. I am virtually free of it.

Based on everything I have heard and read about Zyprexa, what you describe should NOT be happening with this med. It is supposed to be quite sedating and calming, and this effect is fairly consistent from person to person.
Speaking from personal experience, I had developed awful insomnia as part of my depression and anxiety, and my pdoc put me on Zyprexa (2.5mg/night, followed about a half hour later by 1 mg of Klonopin). Before this med combo, I was not able to fall asleep much before 3 in the morning and then had to sleep through the whole morning to get my 8 hours worth.
For weeks now, since I added Zyprexa to my mix and switched the Klonopin to bedtime, I have no problem falling or staying asleep, and as someone described elsewhere in this thread I sleep "hard and long."
I do feel a bit drowsy/hung over for awhile upon waking, but a cup of coffee takes care of that, or else it wears off within an hour or so.
This is the end of the thread.
