I have major depression and take prozac and zyprexa. I also had a knee replacement and still have bad arthritic pain in both knees. A friend gave me an oxycontin to try and it worked wonders for the pain without making me feel wierd or anything--just took the pain away. I know this is a drug that is abused a lot so I am wondering how I can convince my doc to prescribe it for me. I think it would help even if I could take every other day. Any suggestions or how do I find a doc who would prescribe? Thanks

Dona-
Addictive drugs like oxycontin are prescribed on a temporary basis only for severe pain after an injury or surgery, unless you are suffering from a terminal disease or you are Elvis. I would suggest that you see an orthopedic surgeon, who can give you arthritis medicine. If your arthritis is severe, you may need a knee replacement to stop the pain.
