Anyone here know if Wellbutrin is available in LIQUID form? I've got a friend who's in a bad way and is on it, and now feels that she cannot swallow the tablets (she tried the IR version and had a bad reaction to that). I did a few internet searches but could not come up with a definitive answer - thanks to anyone here (CAM?) who might know!

Maybe she can use a pill cutter to slice the Wellbutrin in halves.

Since you are a fountain of info, the fact that you suggested a pill cutter indicates to me that there is NOT a liquid form of Wellbutrin? As for your great suggestion (I myself use a pill cutter when I have to up Klonopin from 1.0 to 1.5); unfortunately, my friend has been somewhat *delusional* (distorted perceptions of reality) and has convinced herself she cannot swallow even a half a pill at a time. It's so sad. That's why her mom and I wondered if there might be liquid Wellbutrin as an alternative to the pills.
Thanks again,
Janelle

You could probably use the original immediate-release tablet of Wellbutrin and crush it into a powder so that it can be added to something like orange juice. Maybe you can find one of those old-fashioned pharmacist mortar-and-pestles. I'm sure you'll find some way to do it. I don't know the details regarding the ER version, but some of these time-release preparations involve some pretty sophisticated composition, and some weird things can happen when they are not administered as a whole unit.

Yes, we were able to take the IR tablet of Wellbutrin and crush it well with a pill crusher she has (I myself have only a pill cutter). She put it into applesauce and said it was so bitter that she literally spit it out. A few hours later, thank goodness, she said she *could* swallow the tablets and did so.
If this happens again, I will have her crush the tablets into OJ or grape juice - some kind of strong flavored juice that would mask the bitterness and just have to go down the throat without really touching the tongue the way eating applesauce does.
Thanks for your suggestion. (by the way, the ER capsules are tricky to split up and everything I've ever read says NOT to; that these must be consumed in their capsule form, all at once).
