Hello to All,
I'd like to know if anyone out there has taken Ritalin & Prozac concurrently. I currently take Ritalin & Concerta for inattentive ADD & minor but chronic depression. Thinking about adding Prozac. Anyone had good luck with this combo? Does one drug make the other drug less or more effective? I have an appointment with the doc tomorrow, but was hoping to get a little insight first since he's always in a rush & "Not there to chat!" Any input would be appreciated.
Thank You,
tresni

< > Hi Tresni, I take Ritalin and Prozac together. The two combined compliment each other and I seem to need less of each. I too started off on just Ritalin alone and later added the Prozac which seemed to help calm me down.

I've taken Ritilan and Prozac together and found that they worked quite well together. It appears that the PDR states Prozac as stimulating , so docs seems aprehensive to add another stimulate. But I think the mechanisms complement each other needing less of each.
Who knows???

Found it to be the best combo I was ever on.I was on both for about
four years while working. Finally the Prozac "pooped out". Stick with
it.. By the way, Concerta is just Ritalin renamed I
believe -- I suggest that you get a doc/therapist who WILL listen;
at least while this med juggling is going on.
I also suggest that HE/SHE IS IN COMMUNICATES WITH THE PRESCRIBER.
Any other way (in my opinion) in is too tough on you. Maribeth
