I'm considering this for weight loss and presumed anti-depressant effects.
Anyone tried this, or have any information?
Thanks!

With the removal of fenfluramine and d-fenfluramine from the market, there was an opening in the "diet pill" market, and Meridia's makers took swift advantage of that.
I doubt it would be a very good diet pill, but its pharmacological and molecular similarities to Effexor suggest that it would be a fine AD.

I wonder if Meridia's side effects mimic that of Effexor, because they were terrible for me.
WEll, if anyone has had experience with Meridia, I would love to hear about it.. good and bad.

Could it be combined with Elavil? It works for me, but I gained a ton of weight. Nothing else works.

"Altough this (sibutramine / Meridia) failed to demonstrate efficacy as an antidepressant in early trials, subject taking it consistently lost weight..." (Kaplan & Sadock's Synopsis of Psychiatry 8th edition)

If you had done a simple search, my dear, with the keyword "Meridia," you would have found this:http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20000401/msgs/28742.html

If I'm not mistaken, Xenical is the drug that carries the fat out of your system, but I'm not interested in that since it can cause malnutrition (since it takes out even the "good" fat and fat-soluble vitamins) and has some yucky side effects.
