Another amisulpride victory

Posted by Lee on February 4, 2001, at 10:43:06

Two weeks ago I added 50 mg. amisulpride to my campaign against depression. Effexor at 225 mg. boosted my energy but didn't dent adhedonia. Added provigil. It worked great on lack of motivation and adhedonia but kept stalling around noon. Added amisulpride and within 5 days I was feeling better on a continual basis than I can remember. (Onset of atypical depression 21 years ago.)

Thank you to all who have contributed information on amisulpride. I don't know if I would have found out about this amazing medication and without you guys.

Sidebar: Just found out insurance NOT covering provigil . The cost is so high, I can only continue if I win a million from Regis. Ordered adrafinil. Will see.

Lee,
Hey, that is pretty cool news. I'm so glad Amisulpride is helping you feel better. Amisulpride has also helped me a lot, even though I only take about 25mg to 33mg per day, among other things.

If you can't afford Provigil then I think you did the right thing in ordering Adrafinil. Personally I like it a whole lot better than Provigil.

So you are also taking Effexor? I take Prozac. I also take a small dose of Zyprexa to sleep better. So far Amisulpride and Zyprexa seem to go very well together, even with such small doses. It's just my opinion, but Amisulpride is awesome.

I think most people who have tried it have liked it. It bothers me though that it didn't work out, at another thread, for Kathy (Katz). I was really disappointed about that.
John

I wish more people would try amisulpride, it would be interesting to see how a large number of people respond to it, rather than just the occasional person, if anybody has any data or knows of any data on the web I would be interested to see what the percentage of responders vs. non responders to amisulpride, my gut feeling is if amisulpride went against prozac in a study, the amisulpride would do slightly better.

Well, just for the record, adrafinil made me feel awful. However, I don't suffer from adhedonia, although I do suffer from depression, which seems positively affected by nardil and lamictal. Am I correct in feeling that most people who respond to adrafinil are suffering from adhedonia?

The real reason I am writing is that I was told by my pdoc that if a doctor appeals the decision of the insurance company and says you NEED a specific medication for mental health, they cannot turn you down. I don't know if this is a national or state (MD) law, but you should check into it. shellie
