I have written a few times about my son and his horrible binge eating and probable bipolar disorder. I wanted to share that from the age of 19 until 30, I suffered from terrrible OCD, anxiety attacks and depression. Those were the days when you were told to go to a psychotherapist to sort out your conflicts. I learned a lot about my dysfunctional childhood - and it was terrible, but I enver felt better. It was such a relief to find out that I had a biochemical problem. I have been on prozac for about 12 years and it has helped me tremendously. I used to be only on 20 mgs., but with the stress with my son, my symptomns came back with a vegeance and now I am on 60 mgs. plus trazadone to help me sleep and xanax when needed. I wanted to share that with the right meds, there can be such a dramatic difference and I was lucky - the second one worked for me.
Hang in there - biochemistry is so powerful and so overwhelming.
My poor son has had no relief yet from anitidepressants and is now on topamax which I am trying ot be hopeful about. He gopt the genes from me and my ex=husband who has terrible anxiety adn OCD and won't take medicine. That is a part of why he is an "ex" of 14 years. He thinks he is fine and everyone else is crazy.
This is the end of the thread.
