i just went thru 3 weeks of trying to switch from paxil to serzone. everyday was hell, but my last day of serzone (which was also my first day back to paxil) i had 10 panic attacks. i thought the panic attacks were from the serzone .. but after reading the link up there about withdrawal from paxil know i am wondering if it was withdrawal from paxil. Help!! how does one figure this out?? i don't get any of this right at the moment.

Hi Yona,
I did not experience any withdrawl at all from Paxil; this may be due to the fact that I was only on 10 mg. (I tried 20 and never made it out of bed.) However, I had a lot of trouble on Serzone. In fact, I felt so much worse. I had paresthesia, euphoria and an intense Migraine the very first day. (Ironically, I was put on Serzone (and Paxil) to prevent migraines caused from anxiety/depression. The euphoria may have been an aura of the migraine as I experience deja vu episodes and changes in smell and taste before a migraine.) By my fourth week, I still had paresthesia and had developed left eye pain, trembling, flu-like symptoms (sore throat and nasal congestion) and I was so down that I didn't want to leave my house. As soon as I began to taper off, I began to feel better. So for me, the Paxil was fine (except for some of the usual side effects), but the Serzone wasn't.
Hope this helps. Cakes
P.S. I stopped Paxil due to weight gain, sexual dysfunction and hair loss. (Now on Effexor xr)

cakes!! thanks for sharing your experience. i got a little confused cause of the posts up there about paxil withdrawal but i have a feeling (and looking back at the exact timing) that it in fact is the serzone. i can't understand that drug. i have a feeling that if it ever was going help, that i would probably have to go crazy first.
anyways, thanks again. i needed that. :) yo

Hi yona,
I had major withdrawal symptoms from paxil. Horrible dizziness/motion sickness and weird pulsing head feelings and major weepiness. However, as you know, Serzone is working great for me, so your brain chemistry is probably really different. And, FWIW, I noticed an improvement less than 2 weeks after I started the Serzone.
Take care,
Jannette

Cakes, Love that name BTW,
As you might know I started Paxil recently. I had a question for you. I'm not experiencing any appetite gain and haven't had sex so don't know if there is a dysfunction, but the hair loss... was it severe? If you don't mind sharing that with me?

Thanks. Ever seen the movie "Friday"? Short for Cupcake, a term of endearment from family and friends.
As for your question on hair loss---for me it was nothing nice. At the time I had long (mid-back)hair. And when I say it was everywhere, it was everywhere; in the shower, in the sinks (kitchen, too), all over clothes. I could clean a full brush everyday, no lie. Don't get me wrong; I didn't have bald patches all over my head! It wasn't that noticeable! I have not experienced the hair loss since I'm off of Paxil. Keep in mind, this was a side effect for me. It may not be for you. Also, others I know on the AD have not experienced this.

Thanks Cakes,
I was just curious 'cause I keep my hair very short anyway, and if the loss is severe, I'll be bald in no time! That Jean Luc Picard look, you know?
Hugs,

>No Professor X for you?! Remember, bald is beautiful. My husband was bald for a short time (chemo). I liked it!

Your head is probably going in a million directions right know so you are not suppost to get any of this right at the moment.
It could be that you discontinued the paxil to abrubtly. Perhaps a longer taper from the paxil will lessen the amount and severity of the panic attacks.
This is the end of the thread.
