For the first time in almost five months I am stable!!! It is amazing to me what this feels like. I am not manic and I am not depressed I am "normal"! This is quite strange and wonderful I just thought I would share. A lot of you have been very supportive of all of the trials I have been through and I just thought I would say "thanks" for listening and helping me out. So , for now I am on 600mg Carbatrol , 4mg gabitril, in the am and 900mg Carbatrol, 300mgs Seroquel, 15 mgs Remeron and 90 mgs restoril at Hs. It is working and I am thrilled . I hope it lasts. Thnaks again for the encouragement.

Weren't you the one who did a posting about going off all your medications?
Just kidding… because I have done and often think of doing the same thing.
I bet you're glad you kept trying! Enjoy your stability, and I hope it lasts forever, Janice

My son was started on depakote and we have not had one rage since then! He is loving and calm and happy. He still gets angry , appropriatly, but handles it very differently than before. I know that some of you were wary of putting kids on meds but this has been the right decision for us. thanks again for your support.- Cyndy

Dear Cynthia,
I am glad to hear that the Depakote is working. Don't be suprised if you continue to get negative feedback about having him on medication, and often from people who have no business giving you advice or people with zero expertise. We had our son on Ritalin for years, which helped him immensely and was definitely indicated. Even though my husband is a physician and I am a rusty RN with an MA in counseling, we still had all sorts of people telling us how bad meds were for him. Finally, I just learned to smile and tell them that we were doing what was best for our child. A few times I recommended a few heavy duty medical references and told them to come back if they had any questions. Some of these people were well meaning, others just opinionated. Just be prepared for this and don't be suprised when it happens. My best to you and your family,
Chris A.

Thanks so much for the support! I have a friend whose son takes depakote for epilepsy I came to the conclusion that I would not hesitate to medicate one of my children for epilepsy , so why hesitate with bipolar? I think that if it is so important for adults to stay on their medication why should it be any different for our children? The difference in him is definitely worth the anguish of the decision to medicate him. Thanks again for the great support!- Love Cyndy
