Can I or can I not have a drink once in a while (I am a VERY light drinker--like 1 drink a month)? I hear conflicting messages. I know drinking is theoretically BAD (LOL) but what will happen if I drink while on the meds? Any advice?

I have been on several antidepressants, some I got sick from drinking, some I didnt. I had NO problem whatsoever from drinking on Celexa. But that was just my experience. Try it slowly, if you feel sick, don't drink anymore. Cheers!

I have been on Celexa for close to a year and am a very light drinker. I do have an occasional drink and it doesn't make any difference at all. Now if I was doing gin and tonics daily that might be different but a drink once a week hasn't caused me any harm. Typing without spell check now that is a problem, drinking no.

A good rule of thumb is if your prescription bottle has a warning label on it about alcohol, don't drink (being a recovering addict and alcoholic I have first-hand knowledge about these things.....). Don't mean to sound like a smart ass, but some drugs can have very dangerous side effects when combined with alcohol and no one here wants to see you get hurt. Cam W. is a real good person to get these kinds of answers from.
