Scott - I downloaded a copy at work and clicked print. Four hundred and some pages later (and one toner cartidge) it stopped printing. The suits were pretty pissed at first, but now each of them has a copy. It's actually good reading. I used some of it's info in my stigma article. - Cam W.

Cam--I absolutely howled when I read your post. Don't you know that the federal government is synonymous with "excess"? The Internet has removed the very last brake on run-on reports--the rising cost of paper. "Excess" is now passe; they're working on "infinite". (Maybe, it's just jealousy--they're the only writers wordier than I am.)

Seriously, I always recommend removing the "Print" button from the toolbars of public terminals. At least, if one has to print from the File menu, there is a dialog box offering the option to print less than everything. You can't do it from a public library, but from home or university, it's useful to keep a MSWord window open to copy and paste Internet tidbits to. Also, if what you've copied to Word has a URL, newer versions of Word (97 and higher) will let you highlight and hyperlink it. (I use it for parts of posts here that contain URLs I'd like to look at later.)

Sorry to get "techie" on you. BTW, may I use your post (no names, of course) for *my* "Intro to the Internet" workshops? Turnabout ought to be fair play, hum? This has been, so far, the most interesting, thought-provoking and entertaining set of messages on Babble since I've been reading--either that, or the Effexor is finally starting to work.

Best wishes--medlib

BTW - That 400 + pages was printed on both sides. Each chapter can be downloaded individually. I thought I'd better add these, in case someone else was going to print it out. Also, in my copy, all of the lower case letter "c" were missing in the titles (weird, huh). - Cam W.

Cam--I sincerely apologize for my smartass post above; you did not deserve such rudeness. I reread my post recently and thought, "Wow! *That* was totally uncalled for." I didn't realize I had such jerk potential. This board *is* a learning experience, albeit sometimes a painful one.

To try to cut down on future impulsive obnoxiousness, I think I'll experiment with composing in Word and letting the messages sit overnight before I post them.

Shoeleather tastes terrible! A contrite--medlib

medlib - I totally enjoyed the smartass post. I didn't see any rudeness or obnxoiuosness at all. I just thought I had better clarify the actual number of pages before someone else started the printing process. It takes a very big binder to fit 800 single pages, but I believe the download was worth it. Sorry, if it sounded like I was 'dissing' you, I wasn't. And the misssing lower case letter "c's" still baffles me.

Really, I loved your post. We need to invent infection on these sites. - Your bud - Cam W.

medlib - Oops, I meant "inflection", not "infection" (or was it just a Freudian slip?). - C.
