I can't seem to find much info on this combination. My son has a dx of undifferentiated schizophrenia and recently Lithium has been added as a trial to reduce his main complaint of apathy (he is hoping) and a suspicion of mania. He has been hyperactive since birth. So far his thinking processes are more clear but no change in apathy. What would be the expected time frame to see full effectiveness. The Olanzapine has been reduced by 1/6 from 15mg.
Sincerely
Jade

hello Jade,
I am not a medical professional, but as far as I knkow lithium is used for manic depression, and as an augmentor to an anti-depressant.within 48 hours, lithium stopped my highs and shortly afterwards prevented the lows moods from dipping quite so low.
But for some people, I believe the anti-depressant affects can take up to 6 weeks to feel their full effects.
I also have ADHD, and I believe the lithium helps my ADHD. It somehow helps to stabilize my energy!
Good luck. Finding the right medications seems to be hit and miss sometimes. I believe I also tried Olanzapine...didn't help me! Poor little guy. Janice.

Hello Janice,Actually, he is a very lucky young man. The Olanzapine is a miracle drug that brought him back to the real world.
Thanks for your insight on your effects of the Lithium and all we can do is wait and see what happens. Trial and error is the only method I guess, to reach that maximum sometimes elusive efficacy.
I am wishing you many "middle" days!
Sincerely
Jade
