Of course you feel sad; I'm so sorry. I'm sure you really trusted and cared for him, and that's why you feel such loss. Can you talk about that to the temp dr.? You're probably going through a greiving process and it will help to have someone work it through with you. Take care.

It is ok to grieve and be sad for the loss of the past you had together albeit professionally and for the future of which you were cut short, robbed.

Kelly, I'm sorry to hear that you lost your doctor. That happened to me when I was in college (about 25 years ago). My very first psychiatrist stopped his cancer treatments and died. I was so wrapped up in my problems, I didn't understand when he told me he was having chemotherapy and was tired of it. I felt sad, guilty, and angry at him for leaving me. Sorry to hear you have lost your doctor. Hope you can find someone else you can trust to continue working on your problems, and to help you grieve your loss.--Cindy W

I once had a pdoc who had a good reputation and a sucessful practice. Aproximately a year after I quit seeing him, I read in the news paper that he had committed a very serious crime against a patient. His license to practice was revoked and he got a 10 year prison sentence. I had been informed by some of my medical docs that some of the medications he prescribed me were totally indiscreet (triplecate form, controlled meds which were not appropriate for my condition). Nevertheless, I felt extremely sorry for this pdoc. I never sensed any malice in his behavior. I remember him as a rather pure soul with perhaps some anarchist tendencies. I believe he had serious personal conflicts but was not a bad person (and perhaps I am being insensitive to his victim). To this day, I have a hard time thinking about that man sitting in prison. I guess my point is that the pity I feel for him is significant, even though he had severe professional flaws. I'm sure your feelings must be equally intense.
