Hello everyone - I'm supposed to start a new drug tonite - Celexa. What I want to know is - after experiencing the WORST time weaning off Prozac, will I feel the same rotten, out-of-control mood swings, suicidal attempts, extreme anger and anxiety (not of course wanting to mention weight gain galore and servere migraines since being completely off at the end of October/99) that experienced as terrible withdrawal effects getting off of Prozac. Does someone know if I will have the same hell to go through if decide to take celexa for a 'while' (like in Prozac, 21/2 years) and decide to get off for various reasons?
Hope you are all doing well. Please contact me back and hopefully with a lot of help to each other, we may all experience some type of relief with the drug for our each and individual welfare!Sincerely,
Cindy

Yikes Cindy...I just went off Celexa to try Prozac, and you scared me. Celexa worked well for me for about 2 years. I went from 20mg up to 40mg. I was recently fired from my job among alot of other things, and it just wasn't working for me anymore. I went to my Dr. about a week ago, and told her I want to try Prozac. She said it has been known to help with weight loss, and was used for that years ago, and gave me a prescription for it. So far, so good. It will take time though. My girlfriend takes it, and she is thin and does really well on it. I know several other people that take it, and they do well also. I also know a couple of people that take Zoloft (people from work etc) and they have experienced terrible weight gain. I know when I tried to get off Celexa before, I quit taking it, and the 3rd or 4th day, if I turned my head too quick or something, I got really dizzy. I called my doc and she said you have to wean yourself off, so every time I tried, I was losing my concentration, sometimes felt like I was losing my mind. Anyway, sorry I am babbling, but all in all I think any time you Seratonin level is down, if you try and get off a drug it is going to affect your head. I had no side effects with Celexa either. Good luck!
