Back in about 1985 or 1986, I was prescribed an anti-
dpressant that was a life saver! I think that I took it
twice a day and it was in capsule form and made by a
European or ,possibly German pharmaceutical company. It was
discontinued because tests in Europe discovered possible
liver problems. What was the name? And what ever happened
to it?

> Merital (nomifensine)? Thank you. For me, that was
a wonder drug. Nothing since then has come along
that has provided that much clarity with few side effects.
Trying combo of Resperdal and Wellbutrion now. Fewer
side effects than Wellbutrion alone.

> John,
It was made by Hoechst and was pulled because of potential fatal immune hemolysis. I have absolutely no idea what that means.

I have absolutely no idea what that means.i think it means that it makes your blood cells explode (ok maybe not that dramatic, just sort of break down and shrivel up and die). that must be a pretty big "potential" as meds like tegretol also run the risk of immunosuppression (i got that side effect) but is still on market because the chances are rare.
