Celexa and cravings

Posted by julep on May 23, 1999, at 23:14:46

I have been on Celexa 20mg/day for 3 months, I had been on Paxil 40mg/day for 5 years prior to this.
I'd like to know if anyone has experienced food cravings on Celexa.
I've been craving sweets for the past 2 1/2 months.
I got off the Paxil because of the sexual side effects, but had lost 70 lbs while on the Paxil, using Phentermine at times(I didn't have these cravings while on the Paxil).
I would appreciate any feedback!!

Yep, I've been on 20mg/day, and have noticed a marked sugar craving, and have also noticed that after eating a high-sugar food (especially junk food, e.g. not fruit) that the drug has a heightened temporary effect. or maybe that's just something i'm imagining. definately craving sweets, though. bummer.

Daisy,
I'm not glad that you're having the sweet cravings, but awfully glad that I'm not the only one.
when I saw my GP on Mon, he wanted to put me on Effexor along with Ephedra, but after reading what others have gone through with the Effexor, I was reluctant, and since we seem to think that some of my problem is ADD, he referred me to a shrink, who treats adult ADD with Ritalin, so I really didn't want to take a chance on the Effexor withdrawal symptoms(SCARRY!!!!) if the shrink wants me on something else.
My other option is to decrease Celexa dosage down to 10mg/day, and that's not too effective for me.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait until June 15 to see what happens!
