Toph. You were exactly as I had pictured you. I think you had dropped hints about your age, or I had picked it up somewhere. You looked your age, but young for your age, I thought. (Not immature. Young and healthy.)
And you look like someone who would own exactly the type of dog you own.
Do I look like a toy or herding dog owner? :)

I would like to share as much of the experience as I recall, in excruciating detail. And I not only want to do this because I had a great time, and want to share it, but also so that there will be less chance of "in jokes" and experiences not shared.
But I'm afraid it might come across in another way, like rubbing it in or something.
So let me know if you want to hear my Chicago trip story, and I'll be happy to post.

I would LOVE to hear about your Chicago experience, inside jokes and all!!! I would have liked to have gone, but it was not possible for me this year. That, however, does not mean that I would begrudge anyone who did go the opportunity to talk enthusiastically about the experience, and to share as much of the experience with others as possible. I will live vicariously through those of you who went, and picture in my mind the fun and comraderie all of you shared.
I say - Bring it on!!! Share, Share, Share!!!

This is dangerous gound.
I expected you to appear like a librarian or someone scholarly, dour and serious. Happily you turned out to be this attractive, cheerful, playful woman who I sadly had only a brief opportunity to talk with. As far as dogs go, something tells me that herding is the operative word here.
I'm still trying to get Dena out of my head. ; )

Hi Dinah
I would love to hear about your trip in excruciating detail. Hehe, you should see some of my astronomy trip reports...they look like essays. :-)
Please feel free to share anything you feel comfortable sharing...I promise to hang on to your every word. :-)

Being wet wasn't that big a deal. We all seemed comfortable with the predicament. I have many other images of Poet in my mind from the day.
Although I did advise my girls that night to never wear a white blouse if there's a chance of rain! ; )
I was a little freaked out by Bob saying goodbye, followed by the wind suddenly picking up, bolts of lightning, and then the skies pouring down with a vengeance. Like the great and powerful Oz had spoken.

I've had similar feelings, but I also know if I was on the other end and didn't want to hear it, I probably wouldn't post that. Maybe if someone is uncomfortable with it, they could babblemail one of us to let us know?

Yeah, that's it, let's blame it on Spoc.
I've been meaning to tell you this, rain, Spoc also slipped that chicken into your salad. But let's just keep this between you and me.

Everyone's been incredibly warm and welcoming to those of us who weren't there, you've been open and sharing and I, for one, really appreciate your kindness in including everyone. It's fun to share vicariously. :)

I'd be a bit freaked by that, too, but my instinct would be to run up and find out where he disappeared to ... maybe it was only the loo ...

I don't think I'd mind librarian, and I'm often serious in the earnest sense, but not dour I don't think.
I do love collies, Australian shepherds and border collies. Oh, and Newfies which aren't herding of course. But my true love is the teensy weensy little toys bred for centuries to snuggle.

Hi susan, Bob was a little mysterious. I feel less suspicious of his motives now. He impressed me as a genuinely nice guy. But that won't stop me from giving him sh*t every now and then. He is still the king. Peasants must mock the king.
Wish you had been there girlfriend, although who knows what would have happened if we had ducked out of the rain together.
