1) Ignore posts of those trolling the site
2) Change the subject line so that you are not repeating trolls' messages.

Should babble not exist anymore?
Is it that bad you think?

This is not fair.
We all want to keep babble alive, why wont you?

This could seriously damage peoples lives.

You know, every other forum is just bs compared to this, and you know it.

This is small problems we have here. ONE person who are writing psychotic stuff, so what.
Read other forums and se how much hatred there is there.

Here we help each other..

It's not fair at all.

I'm kinda getting discouraged with Babble - I'm not sure if some people are being run off after finding that the site is no longer moderated by Dr. Hsiung anymore, which in turn might make people assume that the site is going to be overrun by trolls and spammers.

I have followed Babble for years and found some very useful info thru the various postings from other members. I hope that it can remain a viable site & source of useful conversation.

Isn't that his experiment, to see what happens to a psych-board without moderation?
I thought that anyway.

But one spammer? Is that much you think?

Have you read other boards?

I tried to open up on another board and 1 hour after i posted it, someone said "you have Factitious disorder, and your psychologist knows it!".

Like what the F.

No one have ever been rude to me here on psycho-babble, i don't know what you all are expecting?

I know you didn't, and I agree with you that we can make the bulletin board come out stronger!

I wonder why Dr. Bob doesn't partake in his "little experiment" of a message board?

Here's an old article worth reading about Psycho-Babble that ran in the New York Times back in 2010:

I wrote this before but I'll write it again. Since Bob went AWOL, there has actually been a lot less angst on babble than there used to be. Yes, Lou is still around, but Bob never did a thing about Lou when he was moderating, which was one cause of a lot of angst and upset. I can recall a number of "trolls" who seemed to delight in causing trouble, getting blocked, then reappearing under another name. Babble is smaller now, no doubt, but much less fractious. Lou still causes a lot of angst, but really, nothing compared to 4-5 years ago, when the admin board was just post after post about Lou and blocks and people leaving or threatening to leave.

And Phillipa - you've been predicting the demise of babble for as long as I've been using it (10 years, I think). The other boards are dormant, and that's too bad. I used to like the psychology board a lot. But the fact is that there really is no other place as safe as babble, as intimate as babble and as full of good information as babble. Membership ebbs and flows, but it's amazing how we all hang on.

Monitoring takes time and / or money. There are no real profits to be made on the site (that I know of).

I am happy it is still open, even if it is not perfect. I enjoy it because it is simple.

It's not in total dissaray.

Why accelerate the demise of Psycho-Babble by predicting it year after year? Why not have a hopeful and positive attitude and make the most of what Psycho-Babble still has to offer? I've learned that very little good can come from a mouth of doom. Perhaps a constructive use of the Medication board would be conducive to the health of the website. My guess is that the good doctor continues to make sure that Psycho-Babble remains available to the world by taking care of technical glitches when they develop. For now, he remains a silent landlord.

Don't worry. Be happy.

I'm not worried at all it's just a fact of life nothing lasts forever like the latest model of say a computer. So maybe the time of medications is reaching it's demise. Wait till the elections then will be Socialism and there will be a limited supply of medications available for all but the very wealthy. I stick will the same meds as from what I read in my RN letters they long term side effects are worse for other medications, and this includes those for health conditions. Law suits left and right on for example Cipro the most common antibiotic used for years on urinary problem.. Phillipa

Friends,
The poster writes,[...Since Bob went AWOL...Lou is still around...still cause a lot of angst...there is no other place as safe as Babble...].
Be not deceived. Readers here could be led to their deaths or receive life-ruining conditions and addictions. This is all because readers could be seriously misled to think that it is supportive to promote mind-altering drugs that are not medicines because they do not treat a disease or cure. They are nerve agents used long ago as insecticides and to kill rats and parasitic worms. They also have been used and still are to commit mass-murder. They are addictive and could cause brain damage.
Those that want my voice stilled here have a reason for them wanting that. What is it that I post that causes this angst that the poster accuses me of? Is it because I show them that they are following the shepherd of death? Or is it because Mr. Hsiung has left and gone away?
Where have you gone Robert Hsiung MD, a forum turns its lonely hearts to you.

If you are not worried at all about Psycho-Babble, then what has been your goal - year after year - of posting predictions of its death? What is your interest in hanging around to watch it happen? That would be morbid.

Cynicism will kill you. (Look it up).

Yeah, I notice the same thing. There's way less drama related to blocks and warnings, and fewer posters who seem to just really enjoy conflict.

America can never become socialist. I promise you phillipa :-)

In sweden the wealthy get the same health care as the poor (i'm at the bottom of the society and get the same health care as the rich. Not the real rich persons, they hire private clinics, but it's maybe 100 people of 9 million.)

It can't happen.

Bernie sanders in sweden would be right winged, and kim jong un (north korea socialist) is called a sociopath communist murderer in sweden.

This is just to give you calmness to don't worry about socialism in america, you're far away from it.

I agree with you. I think in America people have the idea that rewards always follow proportionately from hard work, so the idea that people deserve any benefits of society just by virtue of being members of society is disgusting to them. It's amazing how much people here will cling to the idea that wealth is entirely deserved, and lack of wealth is proof someone isn't working hard enough. Or in some circles, lack of wealth is proof that person isn't believing in themselves hard enough.

I find it kind of gross, the way people make "hard work" into the highest moral good. Obviously a certain amount of work is necessary for life, buy why has it become a value in itself?

Even I was blocked at one point!

I think there is a threshold, beyond which, if you go, you never get blocked.

Good thanks. Coming off my SNRI, first few days were rough, but it's getting better. Now I'm down to only 3 psych meds! I'm practically neurotypical :-)

How are you?

I have no problem being paid more for harder work (within reason and assuming people can find work). But the average CEO in the Fortune 500 earns 400 times as much as their average production workers. It is not possible to work 400 times harder than someone else.
