one cannot put all drug combos that are listed as "dangerous" (and even dangerous is a continuum) into a single box and label it something. it is always a case-by-case issue, and any categorical ruling out of stuff that's "forbidden" according to (some) literature is counter-productive. it's like with illegal drugs: don't do it, unless you know exactly what you are doing! only that here, the aim is not supplemental pleasure, but finding a working treatment for a serious, life-threatenings disease.

If anyone tries to lead you to believe that taking multiple drugs that are contraindicated could not kill you, I am requesting that you read thr following.

a)
"The painkillers Morphine and Demerol.
Chloropheniramine, an antihistamine.
The tranquilizers Placidyl and Vailum.
Finally, four drugs were found in "significant" quantities: Codeine, an opiate, Ethinamate, largely prescribed at the time as a "sleeping pill," Quaaludes, and a barbituate, or depressant, that has never been identified. It has also been rumored that Diazepam, Amytal, Nembutal, Carbrital, Sinutab, Elavil, Avental, and Valmid were found in his system at death."
this does not in any way compare to the drug combinations that are being discussed here.
b) noone says that contraindicated drugs "cannot kill you". but they won't do so necessarily. you make a sweeping generalization here.
also, why don't you respond to posts personally, instead of posting links over links to explain your point of view? I'd appreciate a real discussion, I don't like to argue with websites and youtube videos.

I posted their recently about a social issue and the reaction I got was amazing. It seems like that forums attract certain types of people and they like it very strict there.
They are too pro med and put too much faith in non controlled studies like Star*D.

Lol, I saw that post.
Some of the mods do come off as a bit grouchy I guess. And I too got the 'you sound like an abuser' thing with an adderall question years ago.
Maybe youd need to be active in a lot of forums to recognize the pattern and not fall into it. years ago I would have reacted exactly the same but now I just bite my tounge on some of these forums..
For us mentally interesting folks I think were a lot more susceptible to reacting badly and getting into an argument. It sucks when youre in pain and youre trying to cope with a trigger. =(You know what forum drives me crazy, is ptsdforums.org. I make a post and I get a email about grammar and punctuation corrections that tells me im in violation of forum policy! o_O
Id just make another user account I guess. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here but I get more of my technical info from crazymeds.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're bad people, and I'm sorry if this hurts you.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforceFollow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

Hi.
You were banned for violating the Crazy Meds user agreement. Just as Dr. Bob has a user agreement, so does Crazy Meds. CMs' just happens to include personal attacks on their moderators (which includes using curse words instead of their names).
Additionally, what you have posted here (my writings) technically falls under the legal heading "expectation of privacy", as you were warned not to do it when you signed up for Crazy Meds:
"You agree to not copy text or images, outside of fair use guidelines, to other sites without the express permission of the author. So if it is a post on the forum, you'll have to ask whoever wrote it (see the section on former members) for permission."
We keep IP numbers on file, as does every other fora on the internet.
We do, however, appreciate the Google hits you are giving Crazy Meds by repeatedly writing the name of our site.
Have a blessed day.

>The contraindications you are talking about are more than likely drug inserts by the drug company and repeated on the internet when you look up the drug.
Parnate has been around for awhile and time has revealed that some of the original contraindicatins are no longer correct. Psychopharmacologists are using many of the contraindications on trd patients with great success. If you took the time to study the drug and its history you would see that. As drugs evolve we learn new things you can do with them under the care of a skilled p-doc.
I'm sorry but I believe your assertions about her p-doc may be incorrect. Her doctor probably knows exactly what he's doing. I don't know how much you have studied parnate but more than likely he has studied the drug and there are many studies on it. Especially using tcas (other than clomipramine or immirpamine-serotonin syndrome risk). Nortriptyline and parnate actually make parnate safer in terms of bp crisis. Please read this from a p-doc who has used parnate on more than a 1000 patients.http://www.psychotropical.com/maois_full.shtml
I would have been upset if you would have responded this way to a combo I was using. You seem to imply her p-doc is incompetent when the man may be quite skilled.
