You know that song by John Denver? Well, I've liked it since I first heard it, because it's just so upbeat and cheerful and stuff (that's not to say that I don't like to listen to my fair share of very dark and depressing music, especially when I feel dark and depressed). But recently, I've been giving the song some thought, and as ridiculous as this might sound, it seems really meaningful to me. Just because it's about this man who is able to just be satisfied with his life ("days are all filled with the needs of country charm"). He likes what he does, and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. He loves his family ("got me a fine wife") and is able to appreciate the small joys of life ("when the work's all done and the sun's settin low, pull out my fiddle"). He wouldn't trade his life for diamonds or jewels, rather have a fiddle than a foreman's tools. Well... anyway... try listening to it sometime. MMC
(I'd also like to just add at this point that I feel like one of the biggest slackers on the face of the earth since I've been sitting at work for almost 3 hours and all I've done is read posts and respond).
