No no. It's a valid point. Sometimes its that you don't have a specific answer, but you still want to help in some way.
Doctor's familiarity with ketamine varies. A psychiatrist may push for ECT simply because they are not fully up to date on more recent developments. I know here in Canada, I could get ketamine in Toronto (which is about 1h drive) as an infusion. Although some people here have apparently had take home products (i.e. nasal sprays)? I should look more into this myself.
Anyhow, I *don't* think ECT is a terrible option. Most people do not have permanent memory loss. That being said, ketamine is a much less intrusive and safer option, and probably has efficacy rivaling that of ECT (although perhaps with a different set of responders).
