Well, it isn't really going to "kick in" or anything like that. It isn't a med that is going to "do something". It doesn't do anything actually.
What it is, are live bacteria that live in your gut. They digest food, they modulate the immune system, they do tons of good stuff. They are bacteria, but they are good bacteria. When they are messed up, so are we! Psychiatric symptoms do happen when they are messed up....brain fog, depression, tired, get sick a lot, stuff like that.
While it won't kick in, what it will do gently over time is restore your intestines to good working order. Gradually along the way you should feel better, except it will happen in such small ways over a long period of time that you not likely see or feel any change on a short term basis. Months down the road you will be able to look back and say, "Wow I've made some progress. I never really felt it, but now I can tell, my issues are a lot better than they were half a year ago." It goes like that.
Long term. Don't even think about making any judgements until 2016. It takes a long time for the body to get as sick as it gets, and it takes a long time to undo that as well.
