Thanks for askiing.

:-)

Things are tolerable, but I am still left empty. I am less vegetative, but most other features of bipolar depression remain. I lack interest, drive, and motivation. Anhedonia persists. My thoughts are slow and there is no sense of clarity. I am still content to sit quietly and stare into space - although this has improved somewhat.

I am still trying to tweak the dosage of Lamictal. I had been taking 300 mg/day, but I began to realize the extent to which it was affecting adversely my memory and cognition. Even 200 mg/day is too much. With each reduction in dosage, I experience a temporary worsening of depression. However, I seem to have recovered most of the antidepressant effect at 100 mg/day, and I am less impaired.

I have worked with two doctors this year who both agree that it might be time to move towards an electrical or magnetic brain stimulation therapy. I will continue with drug therapy.

Currently:

Parnate 100 mg/day
nortriptyline 100 mg/day
Lamictal 100 mg/day
lithium 300 mg/day
Abilify 10 mg/day
prazosin 30 mg/day

I found that I slept most of the day away when I increased the dosage of Parnate to 120 mg/day. Despite an initial increase in mental energy, the higher dosage was no more effective for me.
