Tramadol irritability/Geodon

Posted by Sheilac on July 26, 2015, at 6:47:19

I've been very stable on 120mg of Geodon, plus I take 10mg Adderall XR. Raising my Geodon helped me use Adderall, which I need.

Now, I have a few painful conditions which, maybe 3 days a week might require a pain med. Docs won't RX hydrocodone anymore, so they give Tramadol.

Tramadol works for my pain, but it causes severe irritability in my mood.

I also take atarax (visitiril or Hydroxyzine) and it can help keep me from getting manic on Tramadol. But I would have to take a lot of it continuously throughout the day and it makes me sleepy. I don't think it's really a long term mood stabilizer.

I can try raising my Geodon, which kind of scares me. It freaked me out going to 120mg. Or I could add at least 500mg or more of daytime Depakote, which makes me fat and bloated and I don't think 500mg keeps me stable.

Anyone have any ideas? I also have Klonopin to take as needed. But it can depress me.

I have to discuss this situation Monday with my doctor.

I have a feeling she'll say to up Geodon and add Depakote.

Any other ideas I can discuss with her?

The Tramadol high is nice, but the irritability is terrible.

I've been stable for so long until Tramadol.
