In reply to Pramipexole for depression?, posted by kilo8 on July 5, 2015, at 21:24:30
Over the years there have been a few people here that tried it. I have tried it. Side effects were intense, benefits either non-existent or slight, and this med can make someone much more depressed as well. Hit or miss, flip a coin, on paper it looks pretty good but in real life anecdotally it doesn't appear very good.
I do feel most depressions are in the DA and NE circuitry, not serotonin, and that the eventual improvement of symptoms will come from manipulating those in some way or another. I wish Ritalin was prescribed more because it would probably help a lot with half of the people here. Medical marijuana too. People seem to stay sick on the substances pushed by establishment folks, but find improvement on substances wrongly shunned by those same establishment types.
Ritalin acts much better as a DA agonist than does pramipexole, if antidepression is the desired goal. It usually needs to be combined with something else to synergize with and tame it down also.
