If nortriptyline works, you will probably feel more clear-headed, even-keeled, and able to focus your attention on tasks. You will experience increases in positive psychic energy and a decrease in anhedonia.

You have to take into consideration that it might take a few weeks to reach that dosage. If in doubt, use blood tests to determine how much nortriptyline is in your system. Dosages can vary greatly between individuals, depending on the rate of its metabolism by the liver enzyme, CYP450 2D6.

However, Lamictal is not the most effective anti-manic drug, although it can produce a stabilization of an ultra-rapid cycle over the course of months according to the NIH studies. I have not yet seen an investigation comparing the efficacy of Lamictal monotherapy to using Lamictal in combination with an antidepressant. Some people to well when Lamictal is used as an adjunct. Like Nardil, Lamictal can produce a rapid improvement in depression early in treatment and at lower dosages. This early response usually disappears quickly, though, and can recur briefly upon dosage increases. Once you reach approximately 200mg , a more stable improvement can emerge.
