i was wondering if someone could clarify the situation of zolpidem (Ambien) or zaleplon (Starnoc/Sonata) in Canada. it seems that they are legal, with Starnoc simply being "discontinued" and no longer marketed, and i'm pretty sure i read clear mention that zolpidem (Ambien) is or was legal (but maybe never marketed, that wasn't 100% clear.) i think what i am wondering is, if they are not conventionally available, are there any well-known specialised compounding pharmacies that might be able to fill the rx through more specialised means? the most well known compounding pharmacy in ottawa (Glebe Apothecary) said that they do not themselves have access to any alternate supplier, so i am looking for others.
(note: unfortunately zopiclone (Imovane), which is available, does not have the the alpha-1/omega-1 selective effect i am looking to experiment with.)
ideally i want to experiment with low-dose, possibly 2.5mg of zolpidem, as i am extrapolating it may have a similar ability to get me unstuck as i was using lorazepam for, but was suffering way too much in the way of cognitive side effects. while zolpidem is a bit notorious side effects wise, its selectivity may give me more room to experiment, and its reputation of being activiating at low dose (expressed in particular by Jay A. Goldstein) and efficacy for tardive issues, parkinsonism, catatonia and even vegetative states makes me very curious.
