I think probably the thing to do is experiment and see. Everyone will be different. Most people take it at night, SLS takes it three times a day, I like it best in late afternoon.
Someone at a natural forum discovered that tyrosine worked for them but only if they took it before bedtime...it didn't bother sleep but was kicking in just in time at wake-up call.
Many people at a St Johns Wort forum have discovered that herb works or doesn't work depending on when they take it. Morning or evening makes a big difference, but is not predictable from person to person.
Despite the halflife of Nort and other meds, I think there is more to the story that we don't know.
I will probably experiment with daytime dosing of Nortriptyline too.
