Hi.
> Scott or any others taking a maoi with desipramine or notrip. I know this is a somewhat stupid question but what does it do for you? Why do you add those particular tca's (besides being the safest choices)? How does it make you feel or change? How do you describe the color purple to someone who has never had sight. It is difficult.
Nardil alone helped with mental energy and social anxiety mildly, but did not change my level of motivation, cognition, and psychomotor retardation. Adding desipramine can add brightness of mood, clarity of thought, energy, motivation, and more enjoyment of life.
That sounds sort of right, but I don't feel that I have conveyed everything clearly. Sorry.
For what it is worth, I was partially responsive to both Nardil or desipramine when used as monotherapy.
I think either nortripyline or desipramine could make a good add-on to an SRI. I can't be sure, though. You don't see that done much. For me, Effexor + nortriptyline did a lot more for me than Effexor alone. Stephen Stahl has recently advocated adding TCAs to SRIs.
