Some people do great with stablon. It has even done ok in treatment resistant cases. But as with everything else, it doesn't work for everyone. Some people here over the years have really liked it and had no side effects, while others didn't like it or had side effects they didn't expect.

The longest I was on it was about a week. The very first dose lifted my depression about 70% and it was unbelievable. After that it seemed to fade and I got more and more blue, dazed, and out of it as each day went by. I remember a couple people here a few months ago that said it worked ok for them except that they had unbearable anxiety from it, even though stablon is supposed to be good for anxiety. Even in recent posts right on this very page a couple people mentioned what a good anxiety med stablon is.

I was feeling really blue today and took one dose of stablon. It lifted my spirits about 50% within 2 hours. Then it was followed by very uncomfortable anxiety that had not existed prior, and I lost all appetite.

It can be a great med. Side effects compared to other meds are generally a lot less. Don't let any negative experiences worry you, because they happen with all meds. Focus on the positives that were shown in many clinical trials.

There is no need for a washout. I even remember reading a case study on pubmed where a lady failed a conventional antidepressant, and failed stablon, but improved significantly when they were combined. No mention though what that other antidepressant was.

Don't worry about figuring out the mechanics of how stablon works. No one even knows how any of these meds work. The best they can do is pose theories, or to infer what happens based on what happened with lab rats, which have brains and blood brain barriers that are not the same as humans. Just because a drug does something in a rat's brain doesn't necessarily mean that is what happens with a human. Stablon has been shown to reduce circulating plasma serotonin and norepinephrine immediately, but increases serotonin within cells.

I think the serotonin thing is way too simplistic. These meds act on genes and all kinds of hidden things besides the neurotransmitters they are aimed at. Among other things, one of tianeptine's primary supposed modes of action is to restore brain plasiticity. That is, the brain's ability to adjust and respond to various conditions such as stress.

Sorry about the paxil withdrawals. Been there, done that. I weaned very slow in tiny steps over a long time and it was actually not bad. My main withdrawal after it was finally all done was some weird dizziness, almost like I was floating instead of walking. And some minor brain zaps. All these things do pass. I don't know if tianeptine would help or not, but if you want to there is not really any need to wait unless that is what you are more comfortable doing.
