4WD, Thanks for the comments and I'm glad some of my posts have given you courage.
It took me a few months to get the kinks out of Nardil. The initial side effects that really got me were the drop in my BP. I have low BP anyway and when measured some days (yes, get a BP cuff if you don't have one), I went down to 60/40, no kidding. Luckily, I wasn't working during this time and could just lie down and drink lots of fluids to try and keep the BP up at a functional level, which for me is around 90/50-60. Lots of difficulties with balence and walking.
Also, the gas and subsequent constipation, were another issue. I have tried lots of meds for constipation and right now, I am finding that eating prunes, maybe 5 a day, keeps things moving down there. You can't stop taking something daily since once you get constipated it's too late except to use the big guns, which are no fun..
Other than that, I am functional and just started a job, the first time in almost 2 years, so that is the best news I can give to you. I do have most of my life back, but like all diseases that are chronic and remitting, you have to manage depression closely. Depression takes a course of it's own and with Nardil, it took me many months to smooth out the side effects.
I did gain about 20 lbs but I am now exercising and watching what I eat since I never needed to before.
