I took high doses for ocd that developed into psychosis. It worked really well. I was initially titrated upto 300mg during the acute phase but I slowly brought the dose down to 75mg once I felt stable.
The OCD stayed away for many years until a few months ago I stopped it thinking I didn't need it. Ofcourse I had a relapse and this time my doctor put me on Lexapro.
I can't tell which is better but I know for sure that Effexor was very effective for my bad case of OCD. Ofcourse you must have read about the withdrawal problems and other issues people had with it already.
But IMHO it was worth it for the relief it offered me.
Good Luck
D
