It is sad however U.S misses out most of the finest Servier products. ASFAIK, the only Servier med available in U.S is Aceon (perindopril), but Servier has a wide range of products and most of them are proved unique in their aspects.
For example Diamicron (gliclazide) is a Servier diabetes med which is the only sulfonylurea that is not associated with weight again. Moreover it can be safely administered in obese patients too as a reduction in weight is noted. As a result it is the first line med for diabetes in most parts of the world. Or at least in Middle East, I would say.
Stablon (tianeptine) is a unique antidepressant without sexual, weight gain side effects. Not effective for OCD though, but its anxiolytic effect is comparable to 1.5mg of Alprazolam.
Flavedon MR is a unique anti-angina med that can be used in pregnant women too. Perhaps the only angina med safe in pregnancy.
Hyperium is another cardiovascular med that has shown superior efficacy and tolerability to atenolol and clonidine without signicant side effects.
We know most of Servier meds will never make it to U.S. It might be because Servier offer their products at a very reasonable price hence have their own market all around the globe. They make huge sales in both China and India, a market vaster than U.S by all means.
Finally, Valdoxan (agomelatine) a Servier Antidepressant is waiting for FDA approval. I think Americans should have to be extremely lucky to get their hands to it. Medico-politics is too tiring..
BTW, Nothing sinister here. I don't work for Servier though I wish..
