My pdoc and I discussed the invaluable comments you all gave me regarding the danger of a selegiline prozac combo; all of which he agreed were true issues, and ones he was aware of.
But he did say to me that it is well documented that chronically depressed people, whether unipolar or bipolar, produce too much MAO, and that selegiline in small doses, with prozac and tryptophan should not cause any problem yet; he did say if I was to remain on this combination, monitoring of my heart and bp would be prudent. However, he is not convinced that the combo is right for me; he just wanted my depression to be stabilized; over the next three weeks, he is tapering down on my prozac, with the possibility of me off me going off prozac and remaining on selegiline, if it seems to be working.
Thanks again, everyone.
Meagan
Again, I value all your comments.
