Sounds very promising..I just read the whole article, thanks for sending it to me John.
Currently, after many years of counciling and now taking Parnate, ocd (Thank God) has not been too much of a problem for me. How about you?
My ocd came in the form of unwanted "Bad" thoughts, and fear of acting out. Or, just being very afraid of thoughts that i thought were wrong or blasphemous against God. Of course i never have acted out any of these thoughts, people with ocd never do. I never had compulsions with mine, as in washing hands etc. But, they did interfere with daily living and would cause deep depression. Drinking for me either made them "go away" or see them for what they really are...useless, crap, which did not make me a bad person. Wow, my stomach gets butterflies just talking about it, but that's okay.
I read something that helped me many years ago..and still does: Temptation is not the same as sin in the thought life. Evil thoughts may pass through the mind, but sin comes from dwelling on it or truly wanting to act on it. As an illustration: "You can't stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building a nest in your hair."
What has been working for you John? And congratulations on not drinking...it took me A LONG TIME to finally stop, and as you know I'm only one drink away from going back. One day at a time is a good way to live life! Take care my friend.
