Reading through this ... it appears that EMSAM very potently inhibits MAO-A, which is why it is considered so much more effective than oral selegiline.
Also ... according to this, NO ONE in the studies followed the dietary restrictions - not even the higher dose groups, and were ENCOURAGED to break such guidelines and there were NO incidences of hypertensive crises. Why is the FDA being so absurdly cautious? This is just going to drive people away from a class of meds that is well known to be THE most efficacious class of antidepressants!
It's all about the money. God. If it isn't a SSRI/SSNRI/carbon copy of something else out there and if (God forbid) its predecessors are all generic, then why bother? Ugggggggggh.
