Hi Diane.

In addition to anxiety, akathisia produces feelings of "inner restlessness" and an inability to sit still. Constant crossing of legs and rocking back and forth. While standing, one constantly shifts their weight from foot to foot or walking in place. There can also be pacing. People use expressions to describe akathisia as a feeling of "crawling out of their skin."

Which of these are you experiencing?

I suppose the syndrome commonly produced by Abilify is akathisia-like. I don't know if it is true akathisia, but I guess that really doesn't matter. It normally shows up early in treatment and disappears within a few weeks. A few people have described symptoms that are unequivocally that of true akathisia. I don't know if this is as likely to resolve on its own. It might not.
