cipro and caffeine

Posted by mike99 on April 1, 2006, at 11:23:22

The cipro insert states (in bold no less):

"Avoid large amounts of caffeine-containing foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, cola drinks, and chocolate, while taking this medicine as the effects of the caffeine may be increased"

Guess I pretty much dismissed that when I washed down the first dose with a double expresso!

I'm really not concerned cuz I've never had problems w/ cipro before, even with caffeine.

Anyhow, just wondering if there's any validity to this claim or why it's stated. Might anyone know the reason for this caution?

Peace out
