Hang in there.
Just because you want to cut your teenagers some slack doesn't mean you should give them a pass in the respect department. Adolescence is not a license to hurt people.
I would not take the comments to heart, and I would try to keep my emotions under control in front of the kids. It's certainly hard to do sometimes, but I've never been much of a believer in allowing kids to experience circumstances that may be beyond their years. For instance, they may not yet have developed the patience and compassion required to understand depression and respond to your situation in a supportive way.
You've been strong enough to get them this far. I'm sure you've plenty left to see them through to adulthood.
