I am a pharm rep for Rozerem and I was doing research to see what users experiences with it have been. After reading this post, I must clarify some things that seem very misleading by this trial user.
Rozerem is a non controlled substance
it is non-scheduled. Yes, I said non scheduled. There is not a class of its own yet it is so new and innovative.
It does not cause cns depressiong
It is the first drug in 35 years created for insomnia. Yes, Ambien and Lunesta and Sonata were not made for insomnia, only sleeping.
Rozerem acts on the mt1 and mt2 receptors in the brain making it completely different than its competitors which act on benzodiazapine receptors all over the brain......Now, what does this mean? First, Rozerem is diffferent than melatonin because it has a 3-5 times great affinity for the mt1 and mt2 receptors. Once Rozerem binds to these receptors, it is 17 times more potent than indogenous melatonin. Next, because Rozerem acts on this part of the brain, which is COMPLETELY different than Ambien, Lunesta etc which are schedule 4 drugs. Rozerem is completely safe and efficacious. The longer you take Rozerem, it is more effective. Studies have proven this by 39%.
With Rozerem, there is NO dependence, NO addiction, NO hangover effect and NO rebound insomnia.
If you are a previous sedative hypnotic user, try Rozerem. It will not knock you out. That is not what it was made to do. It is indicated for the use in patients who suffer from insomnia and to reduce the time to sleep onset by 30 minutes.. Re-read that, "reduce the time to sleep onset by 30 minutes." This is why one poster on here said he fell asleep around 2am instead of 3-4am. Therefore for him, it worked better than expected, he fell asleep an hour quicker instead of just 30 minutes.
Rozerem also has a very short life and has virtually no side affects. The statement also about Rozerem increasing heart rate is very mis-calculated also. Rozerem has nothing to do with cardiovascular irregularities or increasing one's heart rate, studies have been done on this as well and in maybe less that .01 percent of patients was this shown.

> The best way I can describe my experience is something like low-dose benadryl...makes me mildly drowsy, but not enough to fall asleep significantly earlier than usual (I did fall asleep maybe at 2-2:30 am as opposed to 3 or 4--not enough to really help me) and yet still left me with a significant next-day hangover.
>
> The strange thing I noticed is that it seemed to make me VERY tired around 8-10 full hours after taking it...strange. Granted my trial was very brief, but I consistently experienced this every time.

> Again, this is only my very brief experience, but I've decided it's not for me. I still think it may have potential for some though.
>
> Also, as an aside I was scared about taking the first dose after reading reports of increased heart rate and the like because I had horrible cardiovascular effects with the stimulants. Rozerem did not cause any such problems for me though. In fact, it was really difficult to tell I'd taken it until nearly half a day later as mentioned above.
