If deep breathing doesn't help, how about... » spriggy

Reciting poetry to yourself? Cross my heart swear it helps me a lot when I need it. And if I can't think of a poem, I will recite song lyrics. There's something about the rhythm of either one that helps.

And CS's idea is good, too, with the steam: lavendar is said to be calming, and I like the smell of chamomile, so maybe a drop or two of each into a steamy pot of water, with a towel over your head? It might help your nerves, but it will help you pores -- you may not be much calmer, but you'll look so good you won't mind so much. ;-D (Hey, that thought has helped me at times more than you know! "I can't kill myself -- I look too dang good." Call me shallow, but it's true.)

Hope you feel better soon.
