Looking only at neurotoxicity, Ritalin is safer. Amphetamines are associated with an increase in free radicals in the brain, but Ritalin is not. The risk of neurotoxicity is not high when only low doses are taken, but it is still wise for anyone on the drug to consume a diet rich in antioxidants.
