In reply to Stimulants Depression... past or present, posted by Mr.Scott on May 29, 2005, at 21:25:42
Last year, I was on 40 mg Lexapro for anxiety and depression, and 120 mg Strattera (60 mg 2x). That worked very well but made me tired.
Then I replaced both with Cymbalta. This also worked very well for anxiety and depression and made me less tired. But I started losing my temper which I had not done before.
After an unreasonable temper outburst 3 months ago, I stopped Cymbalta and replaced with 72 mg Concerta in the morning, 100 mg Toprol XL, and 5 mg Lexapro before bed. I also added 2 mg Lunesta before bed.
I have had life long pain in my chest (or heart) due to agitation. The pain was 24/7. The Toprol go rid of it for the first time ever. The Concerta also makes me feel a lot more calm, and definitely more focused. I am starting my 4th month on these 2 drugs.
I had originally started on 50 mg Toprol, but raised it to 100 mg to conteract the agitation that returned at night when the Concerta wore off.

I also use .75mg of clonazepam daily (hate it!) and periodically use outpatient right unilateral ECT if things get downright awful. I've taken the adderall for about 5 months and have developed tolerance to some of its effects, but not all.
