hey! The US seems to be an odd country when it comes to meds. Although we seem to hold on to drugs that, though effective, are avoided like the plague in other countries (we still have Desoxyn and docs continue to RX benzos and such more often than most european docs), it seems that europeans get new drugs on the market faster. Oh well. Anyway, if a drug comes onto the market before it hits the US and a doc responsible for your care thinks it may be worth trying, you can go get it and bring it back to the US. Obviously, its expensive, and the law excludes any controlled substances OR substances the FDA has declined for approval, and its limited to a 90-day supply, I think. Mail importation is pretty much not accepted by the FDA, especially for drugs it has not yet approved or that haven't been submitted for review/approval...legal importation involves actually going to a country where the drug is found, legally procuring it, and declaring it upon re-entry to the US. Some docs actually recommend trying it for some condition...severe schizophrenia, cancers, etc.
