OK, here's my take on the Effexor vs. Cymbalta showdown: cymbalta wins. The dosing is far less complicated (think how many levels there are in Effexor; compare that to the one-size fits all in Cymbalta). My understanding is that Effexor is believed to be more Tricyclic-like in action than Cymbalta, though both will raise blood pressure. Effexor at higher doses can increase cholesterol, an effect not seen in Cymbalta (so far, anyway). Effexor may be associated with Tardive Dyskinesia; this association has not popped up (yet) with cymbalta.
