How long have you been taking the effexor? usually those are side effects that go away, sometimes within 3-8weeks (for some people it might take much longer). But if you do stop, most people would say that it is wise to wean off it. Maybe by opening the capsule and emptying out just a tiny bit more and more each day. Your doctor should be able to tell you. Effexor is notorious for having very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. anything from racing thoughts to irritability, to obssessive thinking, to depression., etc..

good luck
