Kara,
Thanks for your kind words, input, and feedback - especially about the cymbalta.
Cymbalta seems to be a good fit for me but the drinking is a real monkey wrench. The warnings about alcohol use are enough to scare me into quitting one or the other.
I had been reducing my cymbalta dose due to the sexual dysfunction but perhaps that made me more vulnerable to drink. I was doing great, losing weight, and then fell off the wagon to deal with the double whammy: Halloween and the Election.
And now I'm drinking to deal with falling off the wagon. Bad wagon! I'm over trying to fix the wagon, just trying to unthink the infernal thing.
Meanwhile, I read that cymbalta has been shown to be useful in alcohol withdrawal or in reducing cravings (not sure, I can't find the resource to quote) and it also helps with certain types of pain. I was amazed the first time I took it. I thought I was having an acid flashback - which, for me, is a GOOD thing. I was grinning and felt a euphoria and lucidity I hadn't experienced in years.
I'm regrouping and anything but depressed. I'm a little disappointed with the drinking lapse but, more and more, the glass is looking half full. The inderal LA really does take care of most of the anxiety and gives me much needed breathing room. And if I don't drink, the cymbalta is promising.
