It's a new SNRI that's been on the market in the US for just a few weeks. It acts on serotonin and norepinephrine as does Effexor, but apparently without the "threshold" for norepi action Effexor seems to have. It's being marketed pretty heavily, perhaps as much because Lilly needs something to replace Prozac as because it's an interesting new option. And let's face it, if you're reading this chances are you're still looking for something that "works" so another option is almost certainly good news!
