I find that if a drug is going to work, it will work despite my best efforts to expect the worst. :-) Unfortunately, the converse is also true. If a drug is not going to work, it won't work despite my incorrigible optimism fostering the expectation that it will. If your condition is predominantly biological, I doubt your outlook will affect your initial response to medication. However, the brain can use all the help it can get. Try to minimize psychosocial stress as much as possible and work to reduce negative thinking and depressive cognition using psychotherapy if necessary.

I didn't like it. It produced anxiety and worsened my depression. I am amazed that so many doctors are now prescribing it for anxiety and insomnia. It seems to be worthless as a mood stabilizer.
