I have absolutely no personal or family history of drug or alcohol abuse and in this regard would make a good candidate for either med. Yet no doctor I've been to will prescribe them whether alone or in combination, claiming it's too risky. Living unhappily, being lonely much of the time, struggling financially and facing the likelihood of an improverished old age - to me that's a much bigger risk. Yet not one of them will bend. Sometimes I get so angry at their arrogance and lack of compassion.
What's so ironic is that San Francisco is famous as a city of experimentation, not to mention a cauldron of drug use. I could easily get either benzos or speed on the street any day I wanted to. The fact I don't should be an even bigger sign to doctors that I'm not likely to become an abuser, otherwise I would have become one long ago.
